Microdrama won everywhere that can pay. We built it for everywhere that cannot.

We are raising a pre-seed round to put African stories on a platform that cannot be withdrawn. The app is finished. What it needs now is a library.

$500,000

Pre-seed. We are also open to angels and grants of any size, and to any structure that gets us moving.

The short version.

Microdrama is now a $14 billion category, and this autumn everyone moved in. YouTube launched Shorts Series. Fox signed Kevin Hart's Hartbeat for 25 vertical series a year. ByteDance launched a free, ad-funded app. The format is settled.

But more than 60% of that revenue comes from coins and per-episode payments, which need purchasing power. So the category went to the United States, Brazil and Indonesia, and not to Africa, where audiences were raised on free television and the platforms keep leaving. Prime Video stopped commissioning African originals. Netflix scaled back in Nigeria. Showmax closed in April after eleven years and roughly $522 million.

Dreamroom is the home built to stay. Every episode is free, funded by five advertising streams, with no coins and no locked episodes. The stories are African and the audience is global: international viewers are about a fifth of the audience and about three fifths of the advertising revenue.

An episode costs $150 and a 60-episode series $9,000, against $100,000 to $300,000 for a comparable US series. Our episodes are written, designed, directed and engineered by filmmakers we train ourselves. They are not generated.

The app is built and ready to ship on iOS and Android, with a full admin console behind it. It is not in the stores yet, and it should not be: a streaming platform launches once, and it launches with a library. That library is what this round funds.

$14B

Global microdrama revenue expected by the end of 2026.

6.5B

Microdrama views on YouTube in the first half of 2026.

60%

Of microdrama revenue sits behind coins and per-episode payments.

11–33×

Cheaper per series than a comparable US microdrama.

What the round buys.

Thirty series on the shelf at launch, the audience to watch them, and twelve months to get there.

$270K

Launch library

Thirty series and 1,800 episodes, at $9,000 a series.

$130K

Audience

Roughly 370,000 installs, plus organic, to 250,000 monthly viewers.

$100K

Platform and runway

Ad stack, subscriptions, analytics, infrastructure and the core team for twelve months.

Where it goes from there.

We reinvest 70% of revenue into catalogue and marketing. A viewer pays back what it cost to acquire in about five months on mid-roll advertising alone, so growth is limited by capital, not by demand.

End of year one
250,000 viewers

47 series and 2,820 episodes. The round funds thirty, revenue funds seventeen. A $905,000 annual run rate.

End of year two
1.5M viewers

A $5.2 million run rate, funded by a seed round and revenue, with the catalogue compounding.

End of year three
5M viewers

A $16.9 million run rate. DramaBox reached 50 million monthly users in three years. We are modelling a tenth of that.

Microdrama is the wedge, not the business. Live action, short films and features follow on the same rails, to the same audience.
